In this presentation, we will discuss some of the key aspects of successful international partnerships in R&D and give examples from a current cooperation between Unicamp and McMaster University. In particular, we will show how the R&D cooperation is inducing a partnership in Engineering Physics in the form of an undergraduate student exchange.

We believe that research talent needs to be the central focus of efforts to enhance international R&D and that a people-centered model of innovation supports and encourages the mobility of students and researchers among universities worldwide. With knowledge and information being the new global currency, innovation through R&D partnerships will hinge on how information is shared, utilized and leveraged.

One of the main characteristics of this model is a rather symmetrical cooperation where people mobility and scientific activities occur in both directions.
