University international offices facilitate numerous traditional functions such as study abroad, student exchange, international student and faculty services, protocol and agreements. In a rapidly evolving global environment, however, these offices are challenged to respond to a dramatically expanded variety of opportunities and challenges. How do these traditionally small offices assure the capacity for innovation and flexibility needed to keep pace%3F How do we absorb new duties linked to formulating institutional strategy or the incubation of new program models%3F This presentation will evaluate a few key trends, explore how novel functional structures and practices allow for expansion into new areas without unreasonable resource demands, and will present an organizational model and culture conceived specifically to address this dynamic new environment.
