A business school is a good environment to negotiate double degrees within different schools and education systems in the world. Within the applied social sciences, the business administration course presents the highest internationalization of academic curriculum, which brings lots of common aspects within different institutions, so that the supplementary distinctions of the courses should have a prominent position in designing the required requisites. We demonstrate the foundations in order to establish this kind of agreement as well as the formal proceedings inside a Brazilian public university. Therefore, we introduce the concept of double degree, according to Knight (2009) and Kong (2008). We briefly present the Bologna process, because the case involves a Brazilian and a French institution. On one hand, we introduce the French education system and the French “Grande Écoles” business schools; on the other hand, we describe the bureaucratic procedures of the Brazilian public university to approve the agreement. Finally, we present the case study of the negotiation of the double degree between the Business Administration course at FEA-RP and the Business Course at Kedge Business School, which comes into effect in September 2016. We conclude that the bureaucratic barriers in Brazilian public universities, like struggles regarding the teaching of disciplines in English, obstruct the establishing of double degree agreements, hindering partnerships with international institutions.
