International internships: How a partner organization can help

Research shows that employers worldwide value graduates with global competencies and international cultural awareness (see Diamond et al., "Global Graduates into Global Leaders", 2011.) In this presentation, The Intern Group will explain the benefits of a comprehensive international internship program for the student and the university, and how it can help to realize the goal of "creating sustainable partnerships through an equitable internationalization." We will explore some relevant topics including the involvement of students in international projects; immersion in foreign languages; occasions for south-south cooperation; impact on university rankings; and most importantly the cultivation of networks which can enhance opportunities for students and universities alike.
