Discussing a Glossary for Double and Joint Degrees
Nowadays, Double, Dual, and Joint Degrees are offered by almost all Universities in the world. However, a great level of ambiguity exists both in terminology and in the ways of implementing such highly integrated degrees. On the one hand, this may create confusion in the mind of the potential candidates and, on the other, employers do not understand well the value of those degrees. In short, lack of understanding about Double, Dual, and Joint Degrees can greatly reduce their impact on the job market. For the reasons above stated, we have proposed a glossary that brings the definitions of the fundamental terms concerned with Double, Dual, and Joint Degrees as well as the relevant criteria for awarding them. This glossary is one of the outcomes of the Erasmus Mundus Action 3 project ADDE SALEM (www.addesalem.com), that involved eight European and eight South American Universities.
The book published in the framework of the project will be made available to the audience. One of its chapters deals specifically with the glossary.
