The objective of this work is to report the implementation process of specific subjects taught in English at the State University of Maringá (UEM), Paraná. The current management of the International Cooperation Office is focused on offering courses in English, given its understanding that English is capable of resolving the international academic/scientific relationship. The first stage of the process was to present the proposal of courses taught in English. With the reception of the proposal by the institution's graduate chamber, as well as the Legal Department, the following stage was the search for financial resources of this project. Highlights in this initiative are the resources obtained with the Fundação Araucária/Fund Newton-Researcher Connect of the British Council and the Ministry of Health. Were trained 40 professionals. The courses were taught by foreigners and participants selected through specific edicts, and the curriculum. The courses were conducted with active teaching-learning methodologies, centered on the participant, with ludic theoretical/practical activities, generating relaxation and increasing self-confidence in the use of the foreign language. The participants were invited to participate in the extension project. At monthly meetings, the syllabuses, objectives and methodology of the subjects were discussed in English, with the help of a language teacher from the UEM Language Institute. The Institute of Languages offered a course called "High Impact Presentations", with 20 hours to support the teachers who created the courses in English, and a lecture entitled "Teaching My Subject Area in English "With 2h /lesson, and the dissemination of several free online English courses for training. The institute has offered support for the pronunciation and writing of the prepared classes, as well as weekly meetings for conversation in English. Finally, Teachers of the University, linked to different areas and the Institute of Languages, participated in a course with a 24h / class on English as a Medium of Instruction (EMI) offered by the British Council and other professors participated in a course offered by Oxford University. Participation in these last two courses aimed at the creation of a course at UEM for the permanent training of teachers to teach subjects in English. After eighteen months of these initiatives, more than 20 disciplines were approved to be taught in English, at undergraduate and graduate level, in addition to the submission of a project to the General Program of International Cooperation (PGCI-CAPES) in a partnership of seven State Institutions of Paraná with Deakin University (Australia).
