Double (undergrad) Degrees: What, Why and How do You Make Them Happen?

View File

This practical course, or workshop, aims at motivating and providing real cases of Double Degrees at undergraduate level. Such agreements provide to the students a richer experience than credit mobility, and are less engaging than joint degrees. They allow for a real mutual recognition between two distinct formations, beyond mere degree revalidation, and respecting the specificities of each HEI. The presentation will explain and compare Double Degree with the other possible tools to integrate study cycles. It will present a series of cases, to detail some signed agreement and show how they comply to the national and local legislations. These agreements will provide examples between Brazilian and French, Brazilian and German, Argentine and Brazilian HEIs. They will include, but not be limited to, Engineering degrees. Finally, the presentation will detail the workflow to be followed to reach such agreements, the role of the International Office and of the specific departments to be involved. At the end of the session, it is expected that the participants will be able to replicate the procedures and the case studies to develop such double degree agreements in their home institution. The presentation and the material will be in English.
